- A resident of the city of township where you are applying to register to vote
Absentee voter ballots
Absentee voter ballots are available for all elections. They provide you with a convenient method for casting a ballot when you are unable to attend the polls on election day.
To qualify for absentee voting, state law says you need to have one of these reasons.

- I am 60 years of age or older
- I expect to be absent from the community in which I am registered for the entire time of the polls are open on election day.

- I have been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where I reside.
- I cannot attend the polls because I am confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial.
